Learning the ropes as a graduate ecologist

At E2M, we’re a young and vibrant team of passionate ecologists. We’re never happier than when we’re in the field, working on the amazing lands we live on and respecting, observing and monitoring the animals we’ve grown up with (and some we haven’t seen before!).

Most of our Executive team have been ecologists since they were young, even if they didn’t realise it at the time, each has a story to tell about their love of their specialist field.

What’s your story?

We’re passionate about understanding the stories of the people we work with. And our culture is a critical part of who we are. As our CEO, Scott Baker says “You can teach people how to be ecologists, but you can’t teach people how to be good people”.

We love a graduate ecologist with a great story and understanding of the world we live in. So if you’re coming to talk to us about a role, think about how what you do and love could fit into our every day life and be ready to tell your story.

We’re focused on ensuring everyone has access to the same opportunities to learn and develop their skills in a way that suits them

Our Graduate program

Our graduate program runs for approximately 12 months. This can sometimes vary according to the access to suitable opportunities to complete activities across our entire portfolio of services. Working alongside some of the most experienced ecologists in Australia, our graduates are exposed to extensive skill-building experiences and ongoing training and mentoring.

There’s a team of people supporting you along the way including:

A Buddy

You’ll be assigned a recent graduate of the program, available to provide support and advice around navigating the learning experience. They’ll be your ‘go to’ person for every day queries, from what to wear, to what to take, understanding documentation to how to interface with Clients.

A Mentor

The mentoring program runs through our organisation at every level. Mentors are assigned every six months and are experienced specialists in their field, able to provide advice about career progression, technical skills, and leadership guidance.

Our learning culture

We’re focused on ensuring everyone has access to the same opportunities to learn and develop their skills in a way that suits them. We’ll provide a safe and structured learning environment with networking opportunities and as many varieties of hands on experience we can offer.

We’re looking for graduates who:

  • Actively participate in learning and development events
  • Understand and align with our values and culture
  • Adhere to our policies and procedures
  • Have a passion and commitment for learning and working in a collaborative and diverse workplace
  • Bring a positive attitude every day.

If this sounds like you, watch the video to see ‘a day in the life’ of our graduates, and get in touch with your story.
