Ed is a fauna ecologist with 15 years’ industry experience and over 25 years’ experience conducting surveys and monitoring of terrestrial and aquatic (freshwater) fauna in eastern and northern Australia. As a fauna ecologist, Ed has worked on a wide range of conservation and development projects for various consulting firms as well as local government, state and federal government agencies. Ed’s project experience includes work on road and runway upgrades, linear infrastructure (gas pipeline, water pipeline, and transmission line) projects, wind farm projects industrial and urban development projects, mine sites, as well as coal seam gas exploration and aquaculture ventures. As a consultant ecologist, Ed has worked on the preparation and review of environmental impact statements, ecological and species management plans, biodiversity offset plans, and habitat/vegetation management plans. Ed has also provided expert testimony in proceedings in Queensland and New South Wales land and environment courts.

In addition to working as an ecological consultant, Ed has worked as a Senior Conservation Officer with Queensland Department of Environment and Heritage, a lecturer at The University of Queensland (teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses in animal biology, ecology and conservation biology), and research assistant at Griffith University.

Ed has a long-standing interest in the biology and conservation of native wildlife and enjoys sharing his passion for and knowledge of nature with co-workers, community groups and students.
